The future of the Sims packs
Here's how things are shaping up so far:
- The stuff packs will continue to be provided as-is.
- The Horrorday Gang Story Pack will get its handbook. Most of the packs can still get them. However, they won't be as lore-dense or complex as the handbook for Top of the World.
- The Anarteq: Guardian of the Soo will come close to the complexity of Top of the World. The other packs will have their complexity with lore insertion scaled back significantly.
- The Centipede and Fire Saga threads will get basic thread layouts on content provided inside. The handbooks will be scaled back. There will be some level of production, but not nearly at the same level as Anarteq: Top of the World.
- Sodality packs have been pulled for the time being. After a spec sheet or two can be assessed, the handbooks will be written as artful reconstructions. Sodality won't get the high-level production for the handbooks that the other packs got.
- Swappernetters have been pulled. They may be restored, but the handbooks will have to be based on the spec sheets, and possibly scaled back.
- No future Sims CC packs will be made. The 17 "big boys" in the collection will be final.
Once these spec sheets for pages, and the final handbooks are complete, there will be no new Sims content.
- Building schematics will be given screenshots, and pulled from The Sims 4. Any still inside The Sims 3, that matter, will also get pulled.
- House Flipper 2 will get one handbook for all reproductions of key Dozerfleet locations.
- Anything not reproduced for House Flipper 2 will get redirected to Planner 5D or SweetHome 3D.
- Corando's "Don't Lose Hope" will be remade with Krea, possibly including as music video. And with a new tune.
- Star Flops: Curse of the Medium Side will remain a Sims comic as-is.
- Blood Over Water will be Krea-generated.
- All other previously-pending Sims comics will be made with Krea instead.
- The final InZOI artbook is still pending. No new mod content is on the horizon.
Deep Archival on the Way for DzMD
Given some new announcements from EA moving forward with the Sims franchise, it's become clear that long-term support for the old Sims 4 packs is becoming increasingly difficult to justify.
While the Anarteq: Top of the World Story Pack will still get its completed handbook, it will be one of the few packs not discontinued soon. Magic of Movies and Memes will remain up. Oughties Big Rapids Living will remain up. Everything else, however, will be discontinued. Anything that isn't on IMDB, and doesn't have a handbook, and is Sims-related, will soon be pulled from DzMD.
The wiki articles will still document everything about the history of these Sims 4 packs. However, the handbooks won't be completed. The labor can no longer be justified.
Lot blueprints will get screenshots. As much will be reconstructed as possible using Planner 5D, SweetHome 3D, and/or House Flipper 2.
This transition will affect more than just DzMD. Comics will get remade. Krea will become the de-facto format generator.
In less-depressing news, the new Dozerfleet Mac means that X-Code can be deployed for making the Shrimp on a Treadmill Calculator an official Mac app. Once the Windows EXE version also exists, all that remains is to make a Linux-end version that's compatible with Mint.
What was going to be a peaceful send-off, with rumors of predatory pop-up ads entering the Sims' ecosystem, has now become an evacuation project. EA's business model, post-private equity acquisition, is becoming borderline predatory. And that's not a healthy situation for DzMD.
