Dozerfleet Custom Project Icon Packs

Have you ever wished to have your folders be customized in order to show off that you are truly a Dozerfleet fan? Have you ever attended Lansing Community College or Ferris State University? Do you have any history with SWOCC Studios? Are you a fan of The Sims 4: Oughties Big Rapids Living Stuff or any of the companies it features? Are you a fan of Mighty Moshin' Emo Rangers, or of Girls Incarcerated on Netflix?

Well now, you can customize your own folders on Windows or Mac, based on your fan preferences.

Description

For Windows 11

Smaller than the Mac collection, this Windows collection of Dozerfleet division and project folder icons are in ICO format, and designed to work with Windows 11. They are set up to integrate with the folder color scheme in Windows 11 already, so that subfolders that don't have a custom icon included here can be icon themed according to the types of files that will be inside said folder. For example: if a Gerosha Chronicles in Dozerfleet Comics concept art folder is in your My Pictures directory, then that picture folder can be assigned the default My Pictures folder icon. For Dozerfleet Literature equivalents in the My Documents folder, you'd use the default My Documents folder icon. Most Dozerfleet Labs projects can also get away with using the My Documents icon.

Dozerfleet Studios projects may all use the Dozerfleet Studios folder icon above, or lesser folders inside these project folders may use the My Videos default icon. Likewise, for music folders using either Dozerfleet Records or the My Music folder icon.

If this process seems slow, then you can create custom settings using Sordum's Folder Painter.

The fan folders set is ideal for those who love the shows Emo Rangers and Girls Incarcerated. It also contains folder icons for game folders for The Sims 3 and The Sims 4: two of some of the most used games for generating Dozerfleet concept art. The Lansing Community College and Ferris State University folders are useful for all current students and alumni of those institutions. Finally, the SWOCC Studios folder is for anyone wishing to add a little pizzaz to their folders containing archives of content from the days of SWOCC still being in operation.

For Mac

Given the different setup of icons and schema on a Mac in general, and the ease of use in generating custom icons in mass succession with programs available on the Mac side, the ICNS library for custom Dozerfleet project folder icon files is considerably larger than its Windows 11 analog.

The fan and academic projects folder icon file ICNS library is also slightly larger than its Windows analog, and even accounts for fans of Mike Hayes' Tri-Sola Poetry collection. Plus, it has a Sims 2 fan folder icon ICNS file, for really nostalgic types.

This set introduces the Sorter, a special folder for your desktop that serves as a temp dump. The custom icon is shaped after a wire mesh paper file sorter in real life. The Sorter is there for you to place files in when you haven't yet readied them for a more permanent home.

There are a few other icons also in this set. The DSHW icon is for DVD-Storybook Hybrid Webcomic format, for fans, even though that format has been discontinued. The .bh icon is an old file, designed to give a special dedicated icon to the .bh "Black Hole" archive format. A portfolio case and TextEdit folder are also given their own icons in this set, as well as a nostalgic icon for the discontinued Niles-n'-Plebian Kranny, a site navigation menu designed to look like a mix between a Kindle Paper and a classic Nook.

Finally, there's the Oughties Big Rapids Living Stuff icons revisited. ICNS development on the Mac side has allowed for these icons to now be able to reach the proper range of icon sizes for a Mac.

Notes

If you would like to create similar icons for your own projects or academia, the following programs are worth your consideration:

On Windows

On a Mac

On Linux

  • Gimp
  • Any software package for Linux that supports theme creation

Dozerfleet sets are typically made into ICO format primarily with IcoFX 1.6.4 on the Windows side, though a newer version may meet your needs better. Check for pricing. Same for AniFX, if you wish to make cursors. For Photoshop Elements users, the Elements+ plugin, made by a different company, is highly recommended. Krita is free, and Image2icon full features, at the time of this writing, cost about $10 to unlock.
