About

In this dramatic prequel to Anarteq: Guardian of the Soo, you get to play as the Sundue cousins in the year 2014, solving mysteries across Greenland in order to thwart a vicious new adversary: Amarok!

Play out the adventure supplied in the novella insert, or craft your own adventures. You can also play as Jissika "Nemara" Sundue, Alex Luupin, Nanaouk Kunuk, Perchta, Amarok, or your own custom Greenlanders - who may be very curious as to why Canadian mermaids are suddenly saving them from a giant wolf! This pack is designed specifically to accompany Saaqartoq, a custom world built by Nixlis Designs. The equivalent for The Sims 4 would be Sulavik, included in Haus of Nando's Going North mod.

Synopsis

It's March of 2014. Nanaouk Kunuk is receiving a shipment through an Order of the Oraphim connection of several mystical compasses, but is reluctant to let the Sundue cousins know the real purpose of these compasses just yet. He hopes to hide behind Bimaadizi Shipping's fishing operation as a front, and smuggle these compasses to his safehouses near Nipissing 10 - where they'll be less likely to find themselves in the wrong hands. He has the Sundue cousins on patrol in Nuuk, to ensure that the Icy Finger doesn't cause any mischief. The cousins are still reeling emotionally from the deaths of their fathers, and the destruction of the Order's outpost in Iqaluit by Ogopogo a year earlier. Jissika, meanwhile, has fallen in love with a local teenage boy named Alex Luupin. Yet, something seems off about Alex's uncle, Yutu.

Suddenly, the long-lost Riddle Plaque of the Hidden Place is discovered, and the Screwworm Network attacks Nuuk to confiscate its secrets. Isitoq must risk being exposed as Anarteq to protect the locals when a mysterious wolfman claiming to be Amarok terrorizes the docks. He and Jissika also find themselves exploring Nuuk to learn the significance of the Riddle Plaque, but no one seems to have the full story.

Soon, even Perchta of Nordreichdun gets dragged into the conflict, with her and the Sundue cousins eager to find out what the mystery of the plaque is that Amarok is so preoccupied with. They soon discover that it connects their current situation to a fateful battle between Miles "Oraphim" Wealthington and the Shrouded Entity - centuries ago! But where is the icy tomb of the Shrouded Entity? Can the Sundue cousins help Greenlandic authorities locate and secure this location, before this new "Amarok" can revive an ancient evil?

Meanwhile, Alex's health begins fading rapidly. Jissika begins to suspect that the Luupin family has some dark secrets, and must solve her own set of mysteries to save his life. Can she help Isitoq and Perchta defeat Amarok, and also save her boyfriend's life, before time runs out? Can they defeat the new threat of Simon Bentforth's return, before a panicked Krampus intervenes in a way the world can't afford? All their lives, plus the Ice Sheet itself, are at stake!

Note: Games themselves are ® and © Electronic Arts, Krafton, and Frozen District. Dozerfleet Labs is not affiliated with any of these companies, nor was this pack endorsed by them.

Multiple ways to play!

Multiple game engines

You can read the abridged version of the story in the handbook. Or you can install the mod for The Sims 3, and take advantage of the game's open world mechanics to customize the adventure. Play the canon, or deviate however you wish!

Want more home-based gameplay and better graphics, and amore accurate Amarok? Install the mod for The Sims 4!

Wnat to reinvision the story with Unreal Engine graphics and Korean gameplay logic? Follow the instructions in the handbook, and the cast can be remade for InZOI on any station powerful enough to run it!

Want to see the homes looking their best, have ideas for adapting the homes to other settings, or just want to tour the two major homes in the story, and don't care about the characters or story progression? Install the files for House Flipper 2, or read the virtual tours of these properties in the handbook!

What if you don't want to play the story as a video game? What if you'd like to eat the story? Literally? In real life? Courtesy of the Iqaluk Café, there's now a Greenlandic lasgna recipe included, just for your bold culinary experimentation desires!

Prefer to sing? The handbook provides lyrics and links to various sample songs generated for the pack, envisioning the story as if it were a lost 90s animated musical feature film, something from the Don Bluth era. Can you out-sing MusicHero's interpretations of Krampus, Perchta, Luftmaedchen, Isitoq, or the Nuuk Center Mall Choir?

Multiple character arcs!

Explore for yourself:

  • Isitoq struggling with what it means to be Anarteq in the wake of his father's death, as he copes with visions of Mahaha taunting him for his failures.
  • Polly trying to put the best spin on being Perchta, giving a voice to those who never got one, as she battles evils the law can't reach. Or won't. So more children don't have to suffer the way she once did.
  • Isitoq and Polly struggling to balance the growing conflict between of attraction versus duty.
  • Jissika's budding romance with Alex, and slow realization that love is seldom easy to defend.
  • Alex's fading health, fear of the impact of a future without him on his family and loved ones, and horrifying discovery that his uncle is not whom he hoped he would be.
  • Frederick and Annika's horror at learning that Greenland isn't the sanctuary for family and work they had hoped it would be.
  • Nanaouk's moral quandry at trying to get the compasses out of Greenland with the best of intentions, only to learn that the enemy's awareness of his presence has become a catalyst for something almost as horrible as what the compasses lead to.
  • Maurice the Ferryman, trying to keep up with all the souls he may have to ferry, as the body count rises with the stakes.
  • Yutu Luupin slowly losing himself to his new Amarok persona, as the Screwworm Network continues to find ways to make him their pawn to revive the dreaded Shrouded Entity.
  • The Sundue cousins and Polly, as they race against time to stop the Entity's return - before Krampus intervenes to protect his own food chain - in a very bad way!
  • What became of Annabelle Shelly from Blood Over Water, as she ascends to become Luftmaedchen, defender of Nordreichdun's airfields.
  • The Screwworms' obession with bringing back an adversary with ties to colonial Boston.
  • The emotional struggle Cherinob, Angel of Radioactive Death and Destruction faces, as she deals with the fallout of the Screwworms poisoning an entire neighborhood with radium. And her need to be ready to ferry a child's soul to eternity - something she hadn't done since the death of Lilya Kovalenko during the Chernobyl disaster!
  • Multiple interpretations of the rental home Qaqqamik Illu. Which one would you stay in?
  • Eqquimiitsoq Skur, before it was dismantled. Explore the emotional residue of Amarok's downfall.

A multiverse of relevance!

The recipe in this pack ties in with the Iqaluk Cafe restaurant concept of Dozerfleet Labs, a spinoff of the Citric Sid branding. A conceptual build for it, set in the Wilinskiverse, features in The Sims 4: Magic of Movies and Memes Stuff.

Moreover, the story for Top of the World ties in with multiple other works within The Gerosha Chronicles:

  • John Domeck and Miles Wealthington's efforts to save Boston (and later, Greenland) from the Shrouded Entity are documented in Of Angels and Icicles, making Bentforth's looming threat of return in this story a callback.
  • Simon "Shrouded Entity" Bentforth went by many names, including the infamous "Black Man of Boston" - forging in public minds a mythology of his own that inspired his metaphorical use by Nathaniel Hawthorne when writing The Scarlet Letter!
  • John and Miles' operation in colonial-era Boston later became the foundation for John's time travel adventure in The Gray Champion: Freedom's Apparition. The fallout of which is alluded to briefly in the Krampus-performed song "March of the Straggele."
  • Isitoq and Jissika's prologue arc calls back to Experiments and Offspring, with their grandfather's adventures setting the stage decades in advance for what they'd discover in their own quest to embody Anarteq, aquatic defender of the north.
  • The story sets up arcs for multiple other Gerosha works that follow: Cherinob, Ciem: Inferno, The Horrorday Gang, Sodality, Anarteq: Guardian of the Soo, and The Tale of Plum Bixie, to name a few!

Milestones

This pack is the first for many in its category:

  • First game mod pack in history to adapt the same story for InZOI, The Sims 3, The Sims 4, and House Flipper 2 simultaneously.
  • First game mod pack in history to specially incorporate a recipe for real life culinary fusion as part of the experience, so players can eat the story, not just play it in a game.
  • First independently-made game mod pack in history to build its premise entirely on the logic of pretending to be adapted from a lost 1990s animated musical feature-length film.
  • First game mod pack to inspire an entire soundtrack centered around applying Disney Rennaisance logic to AI-generated songs with an emphasis on Greenlandic culture.
  • First holiday seasonal game pack in history with its setting and time period centered around Nuuk Snow Festival.
  • First known game mod pack in history to be created in Florida, yet centered around Greenland.
  • First known game mod pack in history to use Qupanuk Olsen's channel as direct inspration for informing its setting.
  • First known game mod pack in history to incorporate espionage thriller, Inuit mythology, Alpine folklore references, and Chernobyl's Cold War trauma echoes into a single plot.

This story it's adapted from has even more firsts:

  • First Nuuk Snow Festival-adjacent holiday adventure story produced by someone outside of Greenland.
  • First of its genre to give Greenland a mall anthem ("Qaamaneq Nutaaq,") its emotional logic reverse-engineered from various Disney soundtracks (particularly Lilo and Stitch.)
  • First of its genre to link Chilean and Inuit mythology together. (Via the Ogopogo arc.)
  • First of its genre to feature a song linking Arctic myth and legend to Midwestern crime trauma ("Die Klage des Luftaedchens.")
  • First of its genre to give Krampus an antivillain song ("March of the Straggele") emotionally reverse-engineered from 90s animated villain songs (such as The Lion King's "Be Prepared," The Hunchback of Notre Dame's "Hellfire," or Anastasia's "In the Dark of the Night.")
  • First of its genre to give a radioactive psychopomp (Cherinob) a sympathetic role.
  • First of its genre to incorporate Greenland's radon issues as a major plot point.
  • First of its genre to feature Canadian merfolk hybrids as central protagonists. (Note: While Anarteq: Guardian of the Soo was released as a story pack first, it doesn't aim for 90s animation logic, and is considered a different genre.)
  • First in its genre to feature a female protagonist closing the romantic arc with deathbed vigil, not a happy ending.
  • First of its genre to feature Canadian merfolk hybrids as reluctant Greenlandic saviors.
  • First to remix a Greenlandic mall jingle into a faux-Gospel hymn (the refrain of "Qaamaneq Nutaaq.")
  • First to reimagine a real life Greenlandic hymn ("Silarsuaq Takuiuk") as a Broadway-worthy English-spoken music number ("What Does Abound"), with a full translation merging the original's themes with new ones.
  • First in its genre to give any variant of Perchta both an origin story and a romance arc.
  • First known work in its genre to reimagine Perchta as a shapeshifting intelligence director, infiltrator, and trauma survivor—an avenger of trafficked children haunted by the fear of losing her humanity. (Note: The Horrorday Gang doesn't aim for 90s animation logic, so it's considered a different genre.)
  • First known work in its genre to blend Inuit mythology with American Gothic horror. (via the Shrouded Entity's arc.)
  • First known work to ever envision a fusion of katajaaq with scat jazz (via "Arctic Scat Symphony.")
  • First in its genre to feature children having visions of other children in Limbo (via "Wings of Tomorrow.")
